Amid the hearing on tariffs, the government had a new meeting with the US

Amid the second day of hearings to discuss the implementation of 25% United States tariffs on Brazilian products, Brazilian government technicians met this Tuesday (7) with representatives from the USTR (US Trade Representative).

The information was given by the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Marcio Elias Rosa, after the meeting.

According to the head of the department, at today's meeting, representatives discussed points of Brazil's proposal for integrated coordination to combat international organized crime. In the minister's opinion, it is possible to move forward on this point.

"We divided the discussions into topics, and today we deal with a request that President Lula has made to the North American government so that we have an integrated action in the fight against transnational crime, organized crime, and there is a recognition that it is possible to move forward on this point", he stated.

Regarding the hearings on Monday (6) and Tuesday (7), the minister stated that most of the sectors present were with the government and defended the Brazilian position, contrary to tariffs.

"We evaluate as very positive the fact that the Brazilian productive sectors, representations, the CNI, among others, have participated in defending our position", he considered.

"Contrary to the tariffs, the indication of the absolute injustice that Section 301 itself represents, the non-appropriateness of the recommendations that were dismissed and these participations of Brazilians committed to Brazil's economic issue", concluded the minister.
