Keith Richards proposes new format for Rolling Stones shows; understand

At 82 years old, Keith Richards hinted that the Rolling Stones may abandon the traditional model of world tours in exchange for a permanent concert residency. The guitarist admitted that the routine on the road became more exhausting for the band members over the years.

In an interview with the next issue of Uncut magazine, Keith stated: "I don't know if touring is possible. It's the traveling that ruins you. I see the possibility of us doing a residency somewhere. Wherever it is, London, New York, Paris, anywhere. It could be Rome! But I don't see why the band couldn't put together some shows in a new format."

The musician joked that keeping the Rolling Stones active is almost a personal necessity and said he was willing to do whatever it takes to preserve the formation that he has led for decades alongside Mick Jagger, also 82, and Ronnie Wood, 79.

"I love working with the guys. I mean, what would I do other than that? My Jesus. It's a necessity for me. At gunpoint, if I have to, to keep a band together," he declared.

Keith's comments come just days after Mick hinted that the group could return to the stage in 2027. In an interview with Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist, on the TODAY program, the vocalist stated that he is ready to resume performing.
