Canella is transferred to prison and awaits a custody hearing in RJ

Márcio Canella was transferred and spent the night at the José Frederico Marques Prison, in Benfica, in the North of Rio de Janeiro, after being arrested in the act for illegal possession of a firearm during the 6th phase of Operation Unha e Carne, launched by the PF (Federal Police) on Tuesday (7).

The former mayor of Belford Roxo and current president of União Brasil in Rio de Janeiro will undergo a custody hearing this Wednesday (8), at 3pm. The information was verified by CNN Brasil anchor, Gustavo Uribe.

According to the Federal Police, Canella was arrested in the act after agents found a rifle in his vehicle while executing the operation's warrants. He is also a pre-candidate for the Federal Senate in Rio de Janeiro.

Investigations
This is the 6th phase of Operation Nail and Flesh, an investigation that previously arrested politicians Rodrigo Bacellar, TH Joias, Thiago Rangel and pastor Márcio Poncio.

According to investigations, the criminal organization would have moved more than R$7.6 billion in the last six years through a network of gas stations in the metropolitan region.
