US President Donald Trump warned Iran that US retaliatory strikes would "get much worse" if the country continued to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.


"This is in retaliation for Iran's bomb attack on ships yesterday. If it happens again, it will be much worse!" Trump said on Wednesday (8), after CENTCOM (US Central Command) previously announced that the United States had begun additional attacks against Iran.


Along with the warning, Trump published an image of a violent scene that appeared to have been computer generated. It showed a huge column of smoke rising above two buildings, with a brightly lit cityscape in the background.

The user who initially posted the image later deleted it, adding: "I just checked and this image is not from tonight. My mistake. I take responsibility."


The warning came after Trump shared three videos that appeared to show damage caused by attacks, although he did not specify where and when they occurred.


CNN did not independently verify the videos and was unable to geolocate one of them. CNN has reached out to the White House for information about what the videos show.
