The United States Court rejected the Brazilian government's request and guaranteed another week for the companies Rumble and Trump Media, linked to President Donald Trump, to speak out in the action against Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).

Now, companies have until July 14th to present their responses to the process.

The decision was registered by Mary S. Scriven, district judge in the state of Florida, contrary to a request from the AGU (Attorney General's Office). The body, which is the Brazilian representative in the process, asked the US Court to order a response from Rumble and Trump Media by Tuesday (7).

On June 23 of this year, the United States Court denied Rumble and Trump Media's request for Moraes to be declared in default in the lawsuit filed by the companies against the magistrate.

At the time, judge Mary Scriven also authorized Brazil's entry into the case and postponed the analysis of the request to dismiss the action presented by the AGU.

Rumble and Trump Media asked that Moraes be declared in absentia on the grounds that the minister was notified about the action through a means authorized by the American courts. Last week, the companies stated that the minister let the deadline pass without responding to the action or requesting an extension.

When analyzing the case, the judge understood that, before examining Moraes' possible default, it is necessary to decide preliminary issues raised by the Brazilian government, including the request for the action to be closed.

Understand the case
In May, Moraes was notified by email, to respond to the lawsuit filed by the social network Rumble and the Trump Media & Technology Group, in the United States.

The case was opened in February in the Federal Court of Florida on the accusation that the Brazilian magistrate had promoted illegal censorship against political speeches by users aligned with the Brazilian right, such as influencer Allan dos Santos.

According to the companies, the minister's decisions forcing Rumble to remove accounts of Brazilian figures would violate the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, which protects freedom of expression.

The plaintiffs also claim that Moraes ordered the platform to maintain legal representation in Brazil to comply with court orders.

Although Trump Media was not directly targeted by the STF's decisions, the company argues that it depends on Rumble's technological infrastructure for Truth Social to operate.

As CNN Brasil showed, the AGU asked the United States Court to suspend the action filed against Moraes.
