The information was revealed to Reuters by a source familiar with the conversations in Ankara, Turkey, which are taking place behind closed doors.

During the meeting, Trump also said that the US is prepared to continue selling weapons to allies, regardless of how they are used, the source told Reuters.

Trump did not repeat his criticism of Spain - a NATO ally - nor the announcement of the end of an interim ceasefire agreement with Iran during the meeting, the source said. He also did not mention the issue of Greenland, which has generated friction within the bloc, the source added.
Earlier, the US leader had ordered the suspension of trade with Spain due to issues related to defense spending and the war in Iran.
