♬ A reference in the northeastern musical universe, the voice of the singer, composer and accordion player from Pernambuco Dominguinhos (1941 - 2013) reverberates discreetly in the recording of "Menino Angola", one of the nine tracks from the second album by the forró trio Manacá da Serra, "Déjà vu".
The album "Déjà vu" arrives tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8th, on audio applications with a mostly original repertoire. In the song "Menino Angola", a partnership between accordion player Theo Lustosa - member of the Minas Gerais trio formed in Belo Horizonte (MG) - with Paulinho Motta, Dominguinhos' voice is heard in the background, as an almost imperceptible second voice, from the third minute of the recording onwards.
Participation sounds essentially affective and is the result of a record made by Dominguinhos 22 years ago. In 2004, Dominguinhos recorded the song "Menino Angola", but the recording was archived and then considered lost - until it was found in 2019, 15 years after recording.
The find allowed a virtual duet of Dominguinhos with Zeca Baleiro presented five years ago in "Serranias" (2021), an album by Theo Lustosa, a musician who is part of the trio Manacá da Serra with Barbara Barcellos (voice and triangle) and Dil Brasil (zabumba).
In addition to Dominguinhos, the group's album "Déjà vu" features the participation of Banda de Pau e Corda, present in the recording of the song "Coisa de Maria, thing de José", another partnership between Theo Lustosa and Paulinho Motta.
The duo of composers also wrote the songs "Lilith", "Como come" and "Déjà vu desire" on the album recorded between Belo Horizonte (MG) and Sorocaba (SP) with musical production by Gustavo Marques.
