Argentina won a thrilling 3-2 victory against Egypt this Tuesday (7), qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
In the dressing room, the Argentine players celebrate with a song that has been rocking the fans in the stands.
It's "La Cuarta Estrella", a song that uses the melody of a local cumbia classic: "No Me Arrepiento de Este Amor", by singer Gilda.
The official music video for the Argentine World Cup hit has accumulated around three million views on YouTube (see full lyrics at the end of this text).
The lyrics talk about the trajectory of the South American team throughout the World Cups and how the players will do everything to win Lionel Messi's fourth title.
To the newspaper "La Nación", the digital influencer and author of the lyrics, Pablo Quintana, explained that he chose the melody of Gilda's song because, as it was a local success, it would generate identification instantaneous.
"I tried to represent the popular feeling of Argentina, the fans, the families and, mainly, the children, because they are the most enthusiastic audience, the ones who sing the most."
The song was made before the World Cup and the composer says he obtained authorizations from Gilda's family and her record company, Leader.
Watching the World Cup in the USA, Quintana met Ignacio Ovando there, a defender who accompanied Argentina in the friendly preparations for the World Cup and confirmed that the song was already a highlight in the dressing room even before the start of the competition.
"When we met, he [Ignacio] told me: 'Your music is fantastic, we sang it every day'", he explained.

The song begins by talking about the love for the national team and remembering the third World Cup title won by Argentina in 2022, in Qatar, with Messi as the highlight.
Then, the composition goes back 32 years in history to remember the 1994 World Cup, also played in the USA.
That year, number 10 Diego Maradona was suspended from the competition - which would end with Argentina eliminated and Brazil champion.
"And 32 years later, 'La Scaloneta' will take revenge. The cup that was stolen from number ten. The one they didn't let us lift"

Finally, the song talks about pride in being Argentine and that the title will go to the Falkland Islands (in eternal dispute with the English), for Diego [Maradona] and for Leo [Messi]'s last World Cup.
"Argentina, I want to see you become two-time champions", ends the lyrics, referring to the possibility of two titles in a row.

In 2022, the hit of the third Argentine title was "Muchachos". A fever that also rocked the title party, "Muchachos" is composed by Fernando Romero
The lyrics provoke Brazil because of the 2021 Copa América, but remember their own defeats in football and even in the Falklands War. The love for Maradona is so much that it extends to his parents, Dom Diego and Tota.
The original music is by the band La Mosca Tsé-Tsé. It was released in 2003 with the title "Muchachos, esta noche me emborracho".

I'm a fan of the national team
I support it with all my heart
We won the third with Lionel
We want to be champions again
And 32 years later
La Scaloneta will take revenge
The cup that was stolen from number 10
The one they didn't let us lift
I want to see the fourth star
To shine on the shirt
I'm Argentine from cradle to grave
For the Falkland Islands
For Diego
For Leo's last one
Argentina, I want to see you become two-time champions
