Three ships were hit by projectiles in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, the British maritime security agency UKMTO reported on Tuesday (7), after Qatar reported an attack by Iran against one of its vessels.

The government responded to the incidents by revoking a license that temporarily lifted sanctions on Iran's oil.
"Iran's actions in the strait were completely unacceptable to the United States and will have consequences," a US Treasury Department official told AFP.
The exemption announced in June had initially allowed Tehran to produce, sell and deliver crude oil and related products until August 21.

According to UKMTO, the first vessel was hit on the port side by at least one projectile, whose origin was not identified, near the coast of Oman, causing a fire.
Qatar - one of the mediators in the conflict in the Middle East - denounced that the vessel "Al Rekayyat" was attacked while sailing near the Strait of Hormuz and held Iran responsible.
"We hold Iran fully responsible, from a legal point of view, for this attack and for any damage or repercussions resulting from it", declared Qatari Foreign Minister Majed Al Ansari.
The British agency reported that two oil tankers were hit in the area and a third was "impacted by an unmanned aerial vehicle of unknown origin and suffered minor structural damage".
In the three cases, the agency reported that there were no injuries or environmental damage.
The incidents occurred despite the ceasefire between the United States and Iran in the war in the Middle East, which began with American and Israeli attacks against Tehran at the end of February.
The future of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for hydrocarbon exports from the Gulf, which Iran blocked during the war, is one of the points of friction in negotiations with the United States to put a definitive end to the conflict.
