Corinthians got the better of Palmeiras last Tuesday afternoon by winning the classic 3-1, at Fazendinha, in a duel valid for the seventh round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. In addition to the three points, the result put an end to a long period without victories for Timãozinho in clashes against its main rivals in the category.

Before this triumph, the last classic won by Corinthians in the Under-17s had been on August 17, 2025. On that occasion, the black and white team defeated Santos 3-0, in Vila Belmiro, in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship. After that result, the record now consisted of five classics played, with four defeats and a draw.

The negative sequence began on August 30, 2025, when Corinthians was beaten by São Paulo 2-1, in the Campeonato Paulista U-17. A few days later, on September 2nd, there was a new defeat, this time 3-2 to Palmeiras, in a match valid for the Brazilian Championship of the category.

Still in 2025, Timão faced São Paulo again in the Under-17 State Championship, on September 20, and ended up defeated 1-0. In the following season, on June 1, 2026, Corinthians and São Paulo were tied 1-1 in the Brazilian Championship. The last classic before the victory over Palmeiras took place on June 30, when Santos beat the black and white club 2-1, also in the national competition.

The result against the rival also ended another important fast. Corinthians once again beat Palmeiras in a competition organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) for the first time since 2019. On that occasion, the 1-0 triumph took place in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

In addition to putting an end to the negative marks, the victory kept Corinthians at the top of the table. Timãozinho currently occupies fourth place in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, with 13 points gained in seven matches, a campaign made up of four wins, one draw and two defeats.

Now, the team led by the black and white technical committee is already focusing its attention on the next round of the competition. This Thursday, at 11am, Corinthians visits Vasco da Gama at the Nivaldo Pereira Stadium, in a match valid for the eighth round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship.
