According to the most recent data from Detran-SP, in the first half of 2026, 1,526,121 traffic fines were already registered, a significant amount of which only 16.54% was actually paid by drivers. The released balance confirms that documentary irregularities continue to top the ranking of the five most common infractions committed on São Paulo's roads.

The top of the São Paulo ranking reveals a trend that has continued over the years. The "Top 2", made up of the delay in the transfer of ownership and unlicensed shooting, remains untouched since 2023.

Alone, these two administrative infractions total more than 659 thousand fines. In other words, more than 43% of all fines applied in the state in the first six months of the year are concentrated in just two documentation problems.

What has changed in 2026
The most notable change to date has been the drop in the number of drivers without a license (CNH), which left the list of the five most cited in the state.

In its place, the red traffic light advanced. The growth of this record highlights the greater pressure of electronic inspection with the greater incidence of red light cameras throughout the state.

On the other hand, incidents of drivers using cell phones and not wearing seat belts continue to be considered the main behavioral and road safety errors in São Paulo.
