Trump says he is 'number 1' on Iran's hit list and gives contradictory statements about the war

Trump talks about 'major attack' against Iran
President Donald Trump stated this Wednesday (8) that he is "number 1 on Iran's target list". The statement was made in a press interview during the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit, held in Turkey.
"I prefer to be number one on TikTok, but I'm number one on the list to be killed", he declared.

Throughout this Wednesday (8), Trump made several contradictory statements about the war, which he even called "a tremendous military success".
The republican stated that he thought a conflict "I don't think it's going to start again. I think it's going to go away very quickly. They hit some ships, and then we hit them much harder. Anything that happens is going to end very quickly... and it's only going to make things safer, including for oil," he said..
Threat of a major attack
Hours earlier, Trump announced that should carry out a "major attack" against Iran on Wednesday night (8).
"I'm going to give you a little warning: we're going to attack them hard tonight," he told reporters, adding: "If necessary, we will cut off the electricity system and the water treatment plants, but we don't want that," he declared.
According to the US president, due to the resumption of the exchange of attacks, the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz may be resumed. Trump also said that NATO countries agreed to send minehunting vessels to help clear the route.

Kharg Island
Trump also revealed on Wednesday (8) that Kharg Island, which concentrates around 90% of Iranian oil exports, was one of the targets hit by the US attacks on Tuesday (7). The republican, however, ordered that oil reservoirs not be hit.
"We attacked the island of Kharg yesterday, and I said: 'Don't touch the oil', because we might take the island and there is nothing they can do about it," he declared.
The US and Iran are officially in the midst of a ceasefire after signing a preliminary peace agreement in June. However, they exchanged attacks again (read more below).

New exchange of attacks
On Tuesday night, the US Central Command launched an offensive against Iran in response to attacks on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Iran stated that the US attacks are a "clear violation" of the peace agreement and launched retaliatory attacks against US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in the early hours of Wednesday.
Both affected Arab countries are home to Washington's military bases: Bahrain is the headquarters of the US Navy's 5th Fleet, while Kuwait serves as headquarters for American Army forces in the region. The two governments issued missile warnings to the population early in the morning.
