Zelensky signs "drone agreements" with three countries

7 Jul (Reuters) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Tuesday that Ukraine had signed three more "drone agreements" with Denmark, Estonia and the Netherlands, making available the experience gained over more than four years of war with Russia.

Zelenskiy announced the agreements in social media posts on the sidelines of the NATO summit in the Turkish capital, Ankara, and said that Kiev had already concluded nine such agreements.

Ukraine has developed a highly sophisticated drone industry, despite having only limited experience in the sector when Russia invaded the country in February 2022.

Zelenskiy has traveled extensively to promote the agreements, especially in the Middle East, where Gulf countries were forced this year to defend themselves from Iranian attacks.

In announcing the agreement with Denmark, Zelenskiy stated that the agreement "opens greater opportunities for joint defense production, knowledge exchange and transparency in arms exports."

He said Denmark was the first country to offer joint production in Ukraine "and it is absolutely fair that Denmark now has access to Ukrainian exports of war-tested weapons."

Zelenskiy highlighted Ukraine's need to strengthen its defenses against Russian ballistic missiles after two attacks on the Ukrainian capital last week. Nineteen people died in Kiev in the latest attack, which took place on Monday.
