Zelensky says Ukraine attacked two oil refineries in Russia

Ukraine attacked two Russian oil refineries overnight, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday, as Kiev steps up pressure on Russia's fuel supplies with its fleet of drones.

Increasingly frequent drone attacks from Kiev have caused severe fuel shortages in parts of Russia, one of the world's largest oil producers, with queues and rationing at gas stations.

"We continue our operations that weaken Russia's ability to wage this war," Zelensky wrote on social media.

The governor of the Krasnodar region, one of those hit by the attacks, said a fire at the refinery in Slavyansk-na-Kubani left one dead and one injured in a nearby village.

The Slavyansk refinery is a private plant with a capacity of around 100,000 barrels per day. It provides fuel for domestic use and export.

In the Yaroslavl region, east of Moscow, the governor stated that the region had suffered drone attacks and that temporary restrictions had been imposed on circulation on some highways giving access to the Russian capital.
