A 27-year-old man, who had been missing since last Monday (25), was rescued alive this Sunday morning (31) in a joint operation in Morro Pelado, in Joinville (SC). The victim was located at around 9:30 am at the Piraí Treatment Station, after having spent five days without eating.

The searches resumed at 7:30 am this Sunday, mobilizing six teams that included the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department (CBMSC), community firefighters, the Mountain Rescue Group (GRM) and the assistance of drones and sniffer dogs. The definitive rescue occurred after a call via 193 reported that the man had arrived at the water treatment plant on his own.

According to the report from the rescue teams, the survivor reported that, after getting lost on the trail, he decided to follow the course of the Piraí River, a strategy that took him to the water collection point where he was seen.

Victim's health status
The Arcanjo aircraft, from CBMSC, was called to transport the victim due to the terrain conditions. At the time of the first treatment, the man was suffering from hypothermia, was cyanotic and had minor injuries to his body. Despite the long period of food deprivation, he was found conscious and oriented.

After receiving preliminary care from the Campo Alegre garrison, the young man was taken in stable condition to Hospital São José, in Joinville, for detailed medical evaluation.
