'YMCA' Co-Writer and Village People Cop, Singer Victor Willis Dies at 74

Singer Victor Willis died at the age of 74 earlier this week. Willis is the co-author of the hit Y.M.C.A and the police officer of the Village People group.
According to the band's social media page, the singer died from a "short but aggressive" illness.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the death of VICTOR WILLIS, lead singer of Village People. Victor passed away on Monday, June 30, 2026 from a short but aggressive illness. Privacy is requested," the band published.
