The number represents a spike compared to April, when only 34 complaints were registered about collectible items. In March, the total number of demands related to the World Cup was just 19.
According to Procon-SP, the proximity of the tournament and the increase in demand for themed products have increased the movement of consumers, especially in the digital environment, where most of the reported problems are concentrated.
Among the main complaints are delays in delivery, non-receipt of purchased products, discrepancies between the item advertised and delivered, undue charges and difficulties in contacting sellers after the conclusion of the purchase.
Online shopping concentrates problems
The agency notes that the majority of incidents involve negotiations carried out over the internet, mainly on marketplaces, social networks and messaging applications.
In the specific case of stickers and albums, complaints were also registered related to advertisements with insufficient information, difficulties in obtaining refunds and the sale of products without proven origin.
According to Procon-SP, the search for rare stickers or limited editions can increase consumers' exposure to fraud and practices irregularities.
Be careful before buying
In light of the increase in complaints, the agency recommends that consumers adopt some precautionary measures before making purchases related to the World Cup:
Check the reputation of the company or seller;
Confirm that there are service channels and identification of the supplier;
Avoid negotiations carried out exclusively through messaging applications;
Be wary of prices far below those charged by the market;
Save receipts, advertisements and company records negotiation;
Check the conditions of exchange, return and delivery time.
For those who intend to purchase figurines, albums or other collectible products, Procon-SP recommends checking the origin of the items and researching the seller's history before completing the purchase.
If there is a non-compliance with the offer or any other problem in the negotiation, consumers can use the organization's service channels to obtain guidance and formalize a complaint.
