World Cup: England equipment is stolen upon arrival in Kansas

The England team suffered theft of training equipment before its arrival in Kansas City, local police reported, after a vehicle transporting materials to the team's World Cup base was broken into.

The incident occurred during the transfer of equipment from England's pre-tournament base in Florida to the Swope Soccer Village, where it was supposed to be installed before the team began training after its arrival in Kansas City this Saturday (13).

"We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening. The investigation is ongoing. Two suspects have been detained for further investigation," police said.

Balls and football boots were among the items believed to have been stolen, according to British press reports.

Reuters has contacted the English Football Association (FA) for comment.

The theft could affect England's preparations for their World Cup opener against Croatia, on Wednesday (17), in Dallas.
