World Cup: Balogun has red removed by FIFA and reinforces USA against Belgium

Forward Folarin Balogun will be available for the United States for the clash against Belgium, in the round of 16 of the World Cup, despite being sent off in the victory over Bosnia in the previous stage of the tournament.

The information was confirmed by FIFA this Sunday (5). In a statement, the entity informed that the player's automatic suspension was lifted based on article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

"In accordance with article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the application of the match suspension is suspended for a probationary period of one year", informed the entity.

"If Folarin Balogun commits another infraction of a similar nature and severity during the period of probation, the suspension will be revoked and the sanction imposed, without prejudice to any additional sanction imposed for the new infraction."

The judicial body has the discretionary power to totally or partially suspend the application of a disciplinary sanction.

"We accept the Disciplinary Committee's decision and are pleased that Folarin Balogun will be eligible to compete tomorrow," the U.S. Soccer Federation said in a statement.

With this, Balogun will be able to face Belgium in the knockout stage. The striker had received a red card in the United States' victory over Bosnia, in a move that would initially take him out of the decisive duel for the round of 16.

The Belgium national team has not commented on Balogun's availability for the match in Seattle on Monday.
