World Cup: Argentina announces defender called up to replace player cut

Argentina announced this Thursday (11) the call-up of defender Marcos Senesi, recently signed by Tottenham-ING, to replace fellow defender Leonardo Balerdi, who was injured last week and is out of the World Cup.

Senesi had a great season for Bournemouth and was announced by Tottenham last week. The defender had already been one of the main absences from Scaloni's list, but now he gets the chance to play in the World Cup.

Severed, Balerdi suffered a muscle injury to the soleus of his right leg. He will not recover in time to be available to Lionel Scaloni in the World Cup and that is why he was cut.
