Woman is prime suspect in 'package bomb' attack on Ukrainian oligarch in Monaco

According to a Monaco judicial source revealed to Reuters, the main suspect in the bomb attack that occurred on Monday night (29) is a woman who was seen in Germany.

Ukrainian oligarch Vadim Irmolaiev and two other people were injured in Monaco in the explosion of a "package bomb", the first action of its kind in the principality, authorities said.
The explosion occurred at around 9 pm (4 pm Brasília time) in a residential building, close to the border with France.
The Monegasque government initially reported two seriously injured people, a couple between 50 and 60 years old, and another injured person, a 13-year-old teenager, without revealing their identities.
"This evening, just before 9 p.m., a violent explosion linked to a package bomb was heard in the Principality, not far from the Place des Moulins", the authorities published on the social network X.
A source close to the case assured the AFP, confirming previous information from BFMTV, that the injured man is Irmolaiev, a Ukrainian oligarch residing in Monaco.

Since December 2023, the businessman has been subject to sanctions due to a decision by the National Security Council of Ukraine promulgated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to several press outlets, which cite the Ukrainian security services, these sanctions are due to the billionaire's decision to continue his alcohol trading activities on the Crimean peninsula, under Russian occupation.
For now, the identity of the victims has not been confirmed by Monaco, where the attorney general, Stéphane Thibault, planned to hold a press conference this Tuesday, according to the Minister of State (head of government), Christophe Mirmand.
Thibault told AFP that the explosive device was in a bag or package left by a person in the lobby of the affected building, before leaving the scene. The French newspaper Le Figaro stated that images from surveillance cameras showed a man dropping a backpack at the entrance of the building shortly before the explosion.
"It is the first time in history, as far as I know, that an act of this type has occurred in the Principality", said Mirmand.
Denouncing "an atrocious crime", Prince Albert II of Monaco cited in a statement "a blow to the entire Monegasque community" and reaffirmed that "the security" of the European microstate "has always been a priority" and "will continue to be more than ever, whatever the threats".
The authorities have reinforced security measures in the principality, which is already highly protected, Minister Mirmand announced in a brief appearance before the press this Monday.
The three injured were transferred to the French city of Nice, about 20 km from Monaco. Police are searching for the suspect.
