Woman is investigated for housing 400 cats in her apartment in SC

The Civil Police of Santa Catarina opened an investigation, this Thursday (28), to investigate the case involving an owner who houses around 400 cats in an unhealthy way in her apartment located in Concórdia, in the west of Santa Catarina.

The investigation was initiated after the MPSC (Public Ministry of Santa Catarina) filed the action, as the owner failed to comply with an agreement signed between them and the Animal Protection and Welfare Directorate of Concórdia.

The animals were found in April. The health inspectorate even reported a report to the 4th Public Prosecutor's Office of Concordia for excessive accumulation of felines in an environment with problems and no monitoring.

As a result, in May, a TAC (Conduct Adjustment Term) was signed, establishing a 30-day deadline for the owner to provide veterinary care and evaluation for all cats.

However, a new report made by the inspection of the municipality of Custódia reported that the woman is making it difficult for professionals to access the property, violating the agreement signed with the MP and the Board.

In view of the non-compliance, the 4th Public Prosecutor's Office requested the opening of a police investigation.

In addition, it has a maximum limit of up to 6 months to remove all animals from the property. The woman also needs to undergo health treatment, neutering and put the animals up for adoption.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the Concórdia District Police Station continues to investigate the position.
