Woman falls from waterfall and is rescued by helicopter in MG

A 32-year-old woman fell into a waterfall in the rural area of Augusto de Lima, in the central region of Minas Gerais, and had to be rescued by helicopter by the Fire Department this Saturday (4).

Firefighters were called around 2pm to help the victim who, according to witness reports, was on a rock known as a "slide" when he slipped and fell.

When the teams arrived, the woman was conscious, but had no movement in her lower limbs and suspected injury to her spine or spinal cord due to the fall.

The aircraft from the Air Operations Battalion, named Archangel 14, had to be called in for the rescue. "The victim was still inside the well, close to rocks, in a difficult to access location. Archangel 14 arrived at the accident site at 3:50 p.m.," the corporation reported.

The victim was immobilized and transported to Hospital João XXIII, in Belo Horizonte. A Samu support unit (Mobile Emergency Care Service) from Buenópolis also responded to the incident.
