With the fall of the dollar, Brazilian spending abroad grows 34%

Brazilians' expenses abroad totaled US$ 2.3 billion in April. The amount represents a growth of around 34.7% compared to expenses recorded in the same period last year, which totaled US$ 1.7 billion.

The result was published in the Central Bank's external sector statistics report this Tuesday (25).

The volume of expenses recorded in April 2026 is the second highest for the month in the historical series, which began in 1995. The total expenses in the period are only behind April 2014, when Brazilians spent US$ 2.4 billion.

From January to April, Brazilian expenses abroad totaled US$8.3 billion compared to US$6.7 billion in the same period in 2025.

The dollar closed down last Monday (25), quoted at R$ 5.0193. During the year, the currency began to accumulate a drop of 8.56% against the real.
