With James Rodríguez, Colombia announces squad for the World Cup

Colombia announced this Monday (25) the list of 26 players called up to compete in the World Cup. The team led by coach Néstor Lorenzo arrives at the tournament betting on the experience of James Rodríguez and striker Luis Díaz, the team's main offensive reference.

This will be James' third participation in World Cups. The midfielder remains one of the main names of the Colombian generation and leads a squad that also includes well-known athletes from Brazilian football. Among those called up are midfielders Jorge Carrascal, from Flamengo, and Jhon Arias, from Palmeiras, as well as striker Gonzalo Plata, also from the Rio club.

Colombia will compete in its sixth edition of the World Cup and is part of Group K, alongside Portugal, Congo and Uzbekistan. The debut will be on June 17th, at 11pm (Brasília time), against the Uzbeks, in Mexico City.

In the South American Qualifiers, the Colombians secured a place without any major difficulties. The team finished in third place, with 28 points gained in 18 matches. Throughout the campaign, there were seven wins, seven draws and four defeats, with 28 goals scored and 18 conceded.

The offensive highlight was Luis Díaz, who scored seven goals in the Qualifiers.
