Why Lula showed the middle finger during an event in Planalto

An unusual scene marked the last day of deliveries by the federal government before the restrictions imposed by the election period began. While criticizing the idea that "poor people don't like good things", President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) showed the middle finger to the public present at the ceremony.

"We need to put an end to this story that the poor don't like good things. Here for them", said the president, while making the obscene gesture in a speech at Palácio do Planalto this Friday (4).

"We like good things. What we want is top-notch everything: top-notch food, top-notch clothes, top-notch travel, top-notch dentist, top-notch doctor. Put an end to this nonsense", he continued.

Lula also criticized a speech he attributed to the elites that access to better health conditions depends on the ability to pay.

"The rich say: 'I have a good health plan, I have good doctors, because I pay'. Here, he doesn't pay a damn thing. He deducts from Income Tax what he pays in health plan. If he deducts from Income Tax, we are the ones who pay", said the PT member.

At the ceremony, the Executive announced deliveries in the areas of housing, education and health.

As of this Saturday (4), three months before the first round of elections, the restrictions provided for in electoral legislation will come into force to prevent the use of public machinery for the benefit of candidates.

Among the restrictions are limitations on institutional advertising and the participation of public agents in construction inaugurations.

As CNN showed, the PT (Workers' Party) decided to make Lula's candidacy for reelection official on August 2, in São Paulo.
