Even with the increase in income from work in recent years, many Brazilians have lost purchasing power because spending on food, health insurance, school and services has grown more than salaries.
At the same time, family budgets have started to include new expenses, such as internet, streaming, applications and subscriptions. Furthermore, an increase in income is usually accompanied by a higher consumption pattern, a phenomenon known as "lifestyle inflation".
The expansion of credit also reduces available income, as installments and financing compromise part of the budget. According to economists, this scenario weighs mainly on the middle class, which concentrates expenses that are more difficult to cut.
