Who is Mikel Merino, hero of Spain's qualification to the World Cup semi-final
Spain qualified for the World Cup semi-finals this Friday (10), by defeating Belgium 2-1 at SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles. The goal that sealed Spain's qualification was scored by Arsenal player Mikel Merino.
At the 43rd minute mark of the second half, Merino, who had come off the bench just two minutes earlier, took advantage of the rebound given by goalkeeper Senne Lammens and scored the winning goal for La Roja in the match.
This was the 12th goal scored by Mikel with the Spanish National Team shirt, the second in this edition of the World Cup. He also scored against Portugal, in the 1-0 victory in the round of 16 stage.
For the first time, the quarterfinals of the World Cup are without Brazil, Germany and Italy
