Who is Karina da Gama, producer of "Dark Horse" investigated for fraud

Businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama found herself at the center of the Caso Master scandals last week, when it was revealed that the senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for the PL, Flávio Bolsonaro (RJ), negotiated a transfer of R$ 134 million with former banker Daniel Vorcaro to finance the film "Dark Horse", a biopic of former president Jair Bolsonaro produced by Go Up Entertainment.

This Thursday (21), Ancine (National Cinema Agency) opened a formal investigation to investigate irregularities in the production of the feature film.

When the messages between Flávio and Vorcaro were published by Intercept Brasil, Go Up issued a note denying that it had received any financing from the owner of Banco Master.

Two days later, federal deputy Mário Frias (PL-SP), who also signed the production and script for "Dark Horse" and had ratified the company's initial statement, admitted that the film received resources from the former banker.

Last Tuesday (19), Flávio said that he asked the producer to provide an account of the financing of the production.

In addition to Go Up, Karina is also the owner of the NGO Instituto conhecimento Brasil. The company is being investigated by the Civil Police of the State of São Paulo due to a contract with the City of São Paulo for the installation of five thousand internet points in the capital of São Paulo.

"The investigation investigates the crimes of frustrating the competitive nature of the bidding procedure, fraud in the execution of an administrative contract and irregular use of public funds or income involving the City of São Paulo", says an excerpt from the statement from the SSP (State Secretariat for Public Security of São Paulo) sent to CNN Brasil.

The Public Prosecutor's Office analyzes whether the public selection to choose the organization was created to favor someone specific and seeks to understand the reasons that led to the agreement between the city hall and the institution.

The authorities also suspect possible subsequent contractual changes and financial transfers to services that have not yet started.

This is the second investigation investigating the relationship between São Paulo City Hall and the Instituto Saber Brasil. The Public and Social Heritage Prosecutor's Office of the Capital also investigates possible irregularities in the implementation, operation and maintenance of 5,000 access points to the public Wi-Fi network in communities in the municipality.

Karina has a close relationship with Mário Frias. Councilor Nabil Bonduki (PT-SP) shared a record published by Juliana Frias, Frias' wife, in which the businesswoman appears in the deputy's diploma. Juliana declares in the publication that the businesswoman is part of the federal parliamentarian's team.

Evangelical, the businesswoman is also responsible for The Connect Faith fair, an international meeting of Christian leaders, entrepreneurs and companies, which takes place in the capital of São Paulo, focusing on technology and innovation for churches.

CNN Brasil contacted Karina da Gama and questioned Vorcaro's involvement with the producer, but received no response. The space remains open for demonstrations.
