Who is Daniel Perez, nominated by Trump to be US ambassador to Brazil

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, appointed this Monday (1st) state deputy Daniel Perez to take over the American embassy in Brazil. The name still needs to be approved by the American Senate before being confirmed in the position.
At 38 years old, Perez has presided over the Florida House of Representatives since 2024, equivalent to a Legislative Assembly in Brazil.
A member of the Republican Party, he is an ally of Trump and, last year, he was mentioned as a possible candidate for the position of state attorney general.
The son of Cuban immigrants, Perez was born in New York and moved to Florida as a child, in 1993. A lawyer, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Loyola University New Orleans. He is married and father of three children.
Perez was elected state deputy for the first time in 2017. According to information published on his official website, his parliamentary work focuses on issues related to child welfare, health, strengthening families, education and electoral integrity.
On social media, he often adopts the slogan Make America Great Again (MAGA), associated with the political movement led by Donald Trump, which in Portuguese means 'Make America Great Again'. In several publications, he also expresses support for the American president's main agendas.
In January of this year, Perez praised the United States military operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of former president Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
In a publication on The post has been vacant since January 2025, when Trump returned to the White House.
