With the 2026 World Cup approaching, the Brazilian Championship will be suspended for more than 50 days after the 18th round.

The 2026 season underwent changes to the calendar due to the World Cup. Series A was extended by the CBF and began on January 28th. The national competition is scheduled to end on December 2nd.

The games of the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship, the last before the World Cup, will take place next weekend. There will be five clashes on Saturday (30) and five on Sunday (31).

The 2026 World Cup will begin on June 11th with the duel between Mexico and South Africa for group A, at the Azteca Stadium. The competition will be decided on July 19th, in New Jersey.

The Brazilian Championship will stop next Sunday knowing that Palmeiras will remain at the top of the table.

The Alviverde team has 38 points and cannot be caught by Flamengo, who has 31 points, in this round. The red-black team has one game in hand, but this duel will not be held before the World Cup.
