WhatsApp announced this Thursday (4) a series of features for users to take advantage of during the 2026 World Cup, which starts on June 11th.
Among the new features are themed stickers, effects for video calls and real-time updates through Meta AI.
Until the final of the tournament, users will be able to react to messages with the Trionda, the official ball of the World Cup. It appears as an emoji and, when used, activates an animation with several balls "jumping" on the cell phone screen.
The application also gained a special pack of World Cup stickers, with images of a goalpost, soccer shoe, tense ball, crying ball and red and yellow cards.

In addition, the company provided themed effects for video calls, including a ball over the user's head, a goalpost as a background and a ball sticker applied to the face, among others.
Meta AI, the company's artificial intelligence, will also start displaying real-time information about the matches, including the latest tournament rankings.
According to WhatsApp, the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar registered a peak of 25 million messages per second on the platform.
