"Whatever," says Yamal about Spain's possible rival in the World Cup round of 16

After beating Austria and qualifying for the round of 16 of the World Cup, this Thursday (2), Spain will face the winning clash between Portugal and Croatia.

While fans await the decision, Lamine Yamal, one of the highlights of the Spanish team, demonstrated calm regarding the duel.

In an interview after the match valid for the second phase of the World Cup, the 18-year-old striker stated that he has no preference for his future rival: "For me, it doesn't matter, honestly. Croatia or Portugal."

According to Yamal, the focus is only on seeking classification, regardless of the opponent.

Still, the striker recognized that it would be special to face Cristiano Ronaldo, the first player in history to score goals in six different editions of the World Cup.

"It would be an honor to play against Cristiano, but I'm thinking about winning the match. It doesn't matter who passes," he said.

On the Croatian side, midfielder Luka Modric could be one of the main challenges for Yamal. Recovered from injury, the young man assured that he was ready to play.

"I'm 100% recovered and ready to play as much as the coach wants. I have to keep taking care of myself, but I'm fully recovered. From the moment I leave the hotel until the end of the match, I just think about enjoying it."

The Spanish team returns to the field next Monday (6), at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Dallas Stadium.
