Attacking midfielder Ismael Saibari made 2026 World Cup history by scoring the fastest goal in the competition to date. The Moroccan player needed just 1 minute and 9 seconds to find the net in the victory over Scotland, in the second round of Group C.

The play started with a throw from Brahim Díaz behind the Scottish defense. Saibari dominated on the right side, invaded the area and finished with power to open the scoring.

The previous record for this edition belonged to Czech Michal Sadílek, who had scored after 5 minutes and 8 seconds in the match against South Africa.

Despite the impressive mark, Saibari's goal is still far from the absolute World Cup record.
