What makes an egg jumbo? Age of the chicken helps explain

What is a jumbo egg?
The same farm can produce eggs of different sizes, ranging from medium (the smallest) to jumbo. In industry, products are separated based on weight.
Check below.
Medium: 38 g to 47.99 g;
Large: 48 g to 57.99 g;
Extra: 58 g to 67.99 g;
Jumbo: over 68 g.
The determining factor for each type is the age of the chicken.
"The bird that is starting production, it is growing. So, it has no structure bone to lay jumbo eggs. As the chicken gets older, it will have a larger pelvis opening, where this egg will pass", explains veterinarian Tarcísio Agostinho.
The birds produce eggs from 18 to 90 weeks of age. From 50 weeks onwards, they can already lay jumbo eggs.
In addition to their age, the feed needs to be very nutritious, protein and soy-based.
Increasing the artificial light in the chicken coop can also increase egg production.
