The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, signaled this Wednesday (17) that there is a consensus in the government to increase the MEI revenue ceiling, which is currently R$81 thousand per year. A bill is being processed in the Chamber of Deputies that increases the limit range to R$ 130 thousand.

The proposal also authorizes individual microentrepreneurs to hire up to two employees, instead of just one, as current legislation allows.

The head of the economic department participated during the morning in a joint session of the Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development and Finance and Taxation Committees of the Chamber of Deputies. The meeting aimed to discuss the guidelines for fiscal and economic policies conducted by the government.

"We will increase the MEI limit together with the National Congress. The MEI will have an increased limit, with the possibility of hiring one more employee", said the minister.

The proposal has already been approved by the Federal Senate and is awaiting analysis by the Chamber of Deputies. In the House, the text is being reported by deputy Jorge Goetten (Republicanos-SC).

Last Monday (15), the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise and Small Businesses, Paulo Pereira, said that the government's proposal is in the final phase and will be presented in the coming days.
