"We look like children and clowns": Dutch driver detonates Formula 1 parade with Lego cars

Max Verstappen challenges Mercedes drivers in the race for the F1 world title
Max Verstappen, Dutch Red Bull driver, criticized Formula 1's decision to put competitors in cars made from Lego bricks during the parade before the British Grand Prix, this Sunday. For the four-time world champion, the initiative can make the drivers look like "children and clowns".
The Dutchman told broadcaster Viaplay that he prefers the traditional format, in which the drivers go around the circuit in an open truck, wave to the public and give interviews on TV.
"I prefer to play with Lego at home, with the children. Not here, to be honest", he said. "I prefer to be on top of a truck, with everyone together. I think it's more fun and also gives a more professional image."
On Thursday (2), Formula 1 and Lego announced that the 22 drivers will travel around the Silverstone circuit before the race in small cars assembled from thousands of the brand's parts.

A similar action was carried out at the Miami Grand Prix last year. On that occasion, the drivers shared two-seater cars, there were small collisions between them and several parts were scattered around the track.
"At the end of the day, we are Formula 1 drivers. I think we shouldn't look like children and clowns trying to hit each other," said Verstappen. "I don't think this is what Formula 1 needs, but to do what."
Emily Prazer, commercial director of Formula 1, stated that the action will show a different side of the category and "create an incredible spectacle for the fans".
