We have to maintain control over public spending, says Durigan to CNN Brasil

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, stated this Thursday (20) to CNN Brasil that the government needs to maintain control over public spending to ensure compliance with the fiscal framework and improve public accounts.

In the exclusive interview, Durigan countered criticism from economists about the increase in government spending and said that the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) reorganized the accounts after "disorders" left by the previous administration.

According to him, the fiscal framework approved in 2023 allowed spending growth to be limited to 2.5% per year, while revenue collection advanced at a faster pace, reducing the fiscal deficit.
