As world leaders gather at the G7 Summit this Tuesday (16), the war with Iran is expected to dominate discussions.

US President Donald Trump wanted to enter the summit of major industrialized nations in a position of strength and with an agreement in hand, according to sources.

And after months of conflict and negotiations that have generated immense skepticism among the rest of the G7 leaders, he will finally achieve this - although there remain significant doubts about the details of the agreement and the extent to which each side will comply with it.

The group's leaders were forced to deal with rising energy prices due to the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

In recent months, Trump has sharply criticized almost all of them for their reluctance to help patrol the important waterway, creating a tense atmosphere for this week's meeting.

Ahead of the summit, officials from four of the G7 countries stated that the way forward in the Middle East - even with an agreement in place - would certainly be the subject of intense debate behind closed doors at the Hotel Royal Belle Époque, in Évian-les-Bains, the city in France where this year's event is taking place.

This Tuesday (16), the leaders of three Arab countries - Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates - will also participate in the negotiations, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, to help address the complex issues affecting the region.

Trump will also meet individually with each of them.
