Waack: Planalto aims for electoral gain in clash with Congress

The government threatens to legalize a series of measures approved in the Senate and called tax bombs.

Among them is a plan for debt relief in the agricultural sector, which was pushed into the same drawer as projects benefiting professional categories or corporations.

They are different things, and all of this has a huge cost to the National Treasury.

Agriculture is facing a perfect storm caused by adverse weather conditions, cost inflation, decreasing margins and already high debts.

A different thing is to establish salary floors for certain professional categories, for example, as was approved by the Senate.

The government does not want a development for agriculture for reasons, above all, political.

Agriculture is a sector in which it does not expect to get many votes in the next elections, and the government thinks it would have the votes in the Supreme Court that it does not have in Congress to block this type of measure.

Even more so after the Dean of the Court, Minister Gilmar Mendes, published a text on social media signaling to the government the legal path to contain expenses created by Congress.

Everything is getting tangled up because, at the same time as it "kicks the shins" of the Senate, the Palácio do Planalto wants the senators to approve the reduction of working hours and the end of the 6x1 work schedule that has already passed through the Chamber, where the president of the house intends to fix the life of his regional oligarchy in the state of Paraíba, supporting President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

However, he wants to be re-elected as president of the Chamber counting on votes from the parliamentary agriculture front - which supports Desenrola for agriculture.

Note that the merits of any of these issues are not being debated, but only the electoral gain.
