VW and CARDE make an unprecedented exchange of JK and Itamar Franco Beetles
Volkswagen Garage and the CARDE Museum announced their first partnership, which will promote the temporary exchange of two of the most important vehicles in the country's political and industrial history.
From August 3, 2026, the German memory department and the Jordanian museum will exchange the Beetles that were directly linked to former presidents Juscelino Kubitschek and Itamar Franco.
Meeting of presidential relics
The initiative was designed to celebrate two important dates for the automotive sector in 2026: the 30th anniversary of the end of production of the "Fusca Itamar" (1996) and the 40th anniversary of the end of the first phase of the model in Brazil (1986).
The models that will make the exchange are:
-
Fusca Convertible (1959): Vehicle used by President Juscelino Kubitschek during the inauguration of the first Volkswagen factory outside Germany in 1959, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), belonging to the CARDE Museum collection.
-
Fusca Itamar (1993): Chassis 001, presented to President Itamar Franco at the ceremony that marked the resumption of production of the model in 1993, preserved by Garagem VW.
