Vorcaro provided suites in a Lisbon hotel for Hugo Motta and Ciro Nogueira
Conversations found by the PF (Federal Police) on Daniel Vorcaro's cell phone show that the former banker requested reservations from the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), at a hotel in Lisbon, Portugal, in June 2024, for a meeting with politicians in the Portuguese city.
According to investigations, the former owner of Banco Master sent a message to Léo Serrano, identified as one of the intermediaries in Vorcaro's operations, on June 18 of that year. He requests a room for himself, in addition to "Ciro" and "Hugo". The PF claims that the names mentioned refer, in fact, to parliamentarians.
Days later, Serrano responds to the demand and says: "Ciro and Hugo each have a JR. Suite". The room would have been booked at the Four Seasons hotel, according to investigations. After the report, Vorcaro sent an audio message showing concern about the privacy of the meeting, even asking that the place in front of the hotel also be reserved to prevent the inside of the meeting from being viewed.
The intermediary then asks if the former banker had access to what he called a "list of men". Vorcaro then goes over a list of names and adds that the other guests would be informed later. "The list presented by Daniel Bueno Vorcaro demonstrates that the references to 'Ciro and Hugo', for which room reservations were requested, refer to Ciro Nogueira and Hugo Motta", states the PF.
The investigation found documents detailing the amounts spent on services provided during the trip to Lisbon. According to the PF, R$91,200 were spent on five nights allocated to Ciro Nogueira.
"Considering the euro exchange rate on June 24, 2024, the value corresponding to the five-night reservation attributed to Ciro Nogueira totaled R$91,280.59, resulting in an approximate daily cost of R$18,256.12", describes the PF.
The documents obtained by CNN do not individually detail the expenses attributed to Hugo Motta.
For the corporation, the files have "coinciding elements" that reinforce the conclusion that the payments refer to politicians' accommodation. According to the findings of the Federal Police, there was a recorded expense relating to daily stays at the same hotel indicated by Serrano.
The information was made public this Tuesday (16) by minister André Mendonça, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), shortly after minister Gilmar Mendes scheduled the trial on the arrest of Henrique and Felipe Vorcaro, Daniel's father and cousin, respectively
This afternoon, the president of the Chamber of Deputies spoke about the matter in a speech to the press. Motta said that he participated in a "corporate event" and that he has "a lot of peace of mind".
"I didn't see any problems because it's a corporate event, I participated this year as president of the Chamber. Everything is being investigated. I've always been in favor of transparency and investigations will take place", declared the deputy.
CNN sought expressions in defense of Ciro Nogueira. There was no response until the publication of this article. The space remains open.
