Virgina in the World Cup on Globo: understand the controversy and reactions
Influencer Virginia Fonseca, 27, will participate as a reporter at the 2026 World Cup in partnership with the program "Domingão com Huck", on TV Globo.
The businesswoman will be responsible for showing behind the scenes of the event, in addition to the daily life, shopping routine, restaurants and topics related to the World Cup.
After announcing the news on social media this Thursday (21), the news generated reactions not only from internet users, but also from celebrities.
Influencer Felipe Neto, 38, criticized TV Globo's hiring of Virginia and declared that, for this reason, he does not intend to follow the championship on the network.
"This will be the first World Cup in my life that I won't watch on Globo. I had already been lost by the team assembled, the other broadcasters are stronger. Now with the little tiger on coverage, no chance," he said
Felipe Neto used the term "tigrinha" referring to Virginia's history in relation to campaigns for online betting platforms.
According to the influencer, he will follow the World Cup through CazéTV.

I had already lost my way with the team assembled, the other broadcasters are stronger. Now with the little tiger on the roof, no chance.
And I feel like there are a LOT of people on this tram.

In addition, sports journalist Juca Kfouri, 76, called the hiring of Virginia to cover the 2026 World Cup for "Domingão do Huck" a "scam".
During the Posse de Bola program, the journalist said that "it is an insult to journalism that Virginia is the reporter for the World Cup".
"Virginia, who can barely put together two sentences, will be a reporter at the World Cup. It's a mess, it's 100% entertainment instead of journalism", he commented.
