Virada Cultural 2026 will take place under intensified rain in SP
After the passage of the cold front that advanced over the state of São Paulo last month, the days are still marked by unstable weather, with lower temperatures and frequent rain, especially this weekend.
According to Climatempo, the tendency is that on Saturday (23), the date on which the "Cultural Turnaround" begins, a new intensification of instability will hit the state.
This Thursday (21) and Friday (22), maritime circulation continues to favor light to moderate rain in the south, east and coast of São Paulo, while the rest of the state of São Paulo experiences longer periods of sunshine.
In the capital, rain is expected to occur at various times of the day, maintaining the scenario of humid weather and low temperatures, with maximums close to 17°C.
The maintenance of humidity coming from the ocean, associated with the propagation of a meteorological trough in medium levels of the atmosphere, should favor a more significant increase in rainfall, mainly between the coast, eastern strip, São Paulo Metropolitan Region and areas of the Paraíba Valley.

In addition to the increase in volumes, there is a risk of persistent rain throughout the day, with periods of greater intensity and intervals of heavy rain, which may be accompanied by lightning and even localized thunderstorms in some areas.
Why does the phenomenon occur?
The combination between maritime circulation, the transport of moisture from the ocean and the action of a mass of polar air keeps the sky more cloudy, favoring episodes of light to moderate rain, drizzle and a feeling of cold, especially in areas closer to the coast.
