Vini Jr. could become Brazil's top scorer in World Cups since Ronaldo

With four goals scored in the current edition of the World Cup, Vini Jr. can achieve an important feat in the game against Norway, in the round of 16 of the tournament, this Sunday (5). If he scores one more goal, the number 7 reaches 5 goals and becomes Brazil's top scorer in a World Cup since Ronaldo in 2002.

In the World Cup played in Japan and South Korea, the Phenomenon scored 8 goals in seven games played in the tournament, in addition to taking the cup back to Brazil. Since then, no Brazilian player has surpassed the mark of four goals scored in a single edition of the World Cup.

So far, only Neymar, in 2014, and Vini Jr., in 2026, have scored four goals in a World Cup edition. In 2006, 2010 and 2022, Ronaldo, Luís Fabiano and Richarlison scored three goals, while in 2018 Neymar and Philippe Coutinho shared the top score with 2 goals.

So, Vini has the chance to make history against Norway and become Brazil's second highest scorer in a World Cup this century. The number 7 scored all four goals in the group stage, against Morocco, Haiti and Scotland, but came up empty against Japan.

Brazil and Norway face each other in the round of 16 of the World Cup this Sunday afternoon (5). The ball drops at 5pm (Brasília time), at MetLife Stadium, in the United States.
