Norwegian fans went viral on social media this Tuesday (16), the day of the country's national team's debut in the 2026 World Cup. In a video that has been circulating, dozens of Norwegians appear sitting on an escalator in a subway station in the United States, simulating the movements of rowers on a Viking boat.

The scene refers to one of the main historical symbols of the Nordic country. Organized in a line, they reproduce the synchronized movement of the oars as they climb the ladder, transforming into a kind of improvised vessel.
The Norwegian team debuts this Monday, at 7pm (Brasília time), against Iraq, in the first round of Group I of the World Cup. The video was recorded in Massachusetts, location of the match, which takes place in Foxborough, a city near Boston.
The 2026 World Cup marks Norway's return to the tournament after 28 years. The team's last participation was in the edition played in France, in 1998.
