The United States confirmed a new attack on an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman and released images of it in a statement on social media this Thursday (11).

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the bombing occurred at 0:30 am Brasília time. The vessel M/T Jalveer, flagged by Guinea-Bissau, was reportedly trying to break the US military blockade to transport oil from Iran.
"The vessel violated the blockade against Iran when trying to transport Iranian oil. This was the third commercial vessel detained by US forces this week. An American aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles at the ship's engine room after the crew repeatedly refused to comply with the orders of US forces", he detailed.
In the post, CENTCOM also confirmed the attacks on the Palau-flagged ships M/T Marivex and M/T Settebello, on Monday and Tuesday respectively. He also stated that he had disabled 9 vessels and redirected 135 since April 13.
In a statement after the attack on Settebello, three Indian sailors died.
"The blockade is being applied impartially against vessels of all nations entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman," the statement said.
Iran condemns new US attacks
Iran announced on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed "until further notice".
The decision was taken after the United States carried out a new wave of bombings against Iranian territory in the evening this Wednesday (10).

In a statement this Thursday morning, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, saying that the US offensives had rendered the almost two-month ceasefire "practically meaningless". In retaliation for the American bombings, Iran attacked two ships. The Indian embassy in Oman said it was aware of an incident involving a vessel near the port of Shinas, in the country, which occurred this Thursday.
Iranian news agency Tasnim says three sailors have died. However, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that there were 20 Indians on board the vessel and that everyone is safe.
On the Fox News TV network, US President Donald Trump said that American fighter jets were operating in the skies over Iran. He stated that he had spoken to Iranian authorities this Wednesday, who allegedly "had asked for the bombings to stop". He said Israel was not involved in the mission and did not rule out further military action in the country.
Tehran denied that such talks had taken place.
According to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the country's forces carried out retaliatory strikes on the US Fifth Fleet, which is based in Bahrain.
"IRGC forces struck and destroyed eighteen important targets belonging to the American army at the Ali Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber air bases, as well as the Sheikh air base Isa, during two operational waves", says a statement.
Explosions were heard in Manama, the Bahraini capital, and in Hamad Town.
Bahrain's Interior Ministry reported that the attacks left an 11-year-old child injured. Vehicles caught fire and houses were damaged due to falling debris from intercepted drones.
Civil Defense and the National Ambulance Service took the necessary measures, according to the ministry.

This was the second day in a row that the US has launched bombings against Iran since the beginning of the ceasefire in the war between the two countries. According to Washington, the first wave of attacks occurred in retaliation for the downing of an Apache helicopter by Iran. It is not yet known what impact this Wednesday's attacks will have on the truce in the conflict, which has been fragile since its beginning in April.
Iranian state agencies reported several explosions in Bandar Abbas, Minab, Kargan and Sirik, port cities in the Strait of Hormuz region, and that air defenses were activated in Isfahan. The Mehr agency spoke of "fights at sea" between Iranian and North American forces, but did not give further details.
A North American official told the website Axios that all the targets hit were in the south of Iran and included air defense systems, radars and drone command and control units.
Almost two hours after the US attack, the Iranian government again said that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to any type of ship, and that it fired on two vessels that said it was violating its blockade.
Earlier, Iran had also promised a "tough response" against US targets in the Middle East, and said that further escalation of the conflict would not be restricted to the Middle East alone. On Tuesday, Tehran attacked the US base in Bahrain in retaliation.
The US attack came hours after President Donald Trump said his Army would attack Iran again "later today." US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the bombings would be "clear strong" and would hit "key installations" in Iran. Hegseth, however, did not give details about which installations these were.
Also according to Hegseth, Wednesday's attacks would advance US military interests in the Middle East and help Washington reach a diplomatic solution to the war. Iran said earlier, however, that the country does not negotiate under threats.
