Video: see the moment a coal mine explodes in China

Security camera footage shown by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV on Monday (25) showed the moment of a gas explosion at the Liushenyu coal mine in northern China's Shanxi province on Friday night (22).

Authorities reported at a press conference on Saturday (23) that 82 people had died and two remained missing. There were 247 workers on duty underground at the time of the explosion.

The accident is the deadliest in China since 2009, when a gas explosion at the Xinxing mine in Heilongjiang province killed 108 people.

Victim Wang Jintai said the explosion knocked him down and left him disoriented. Wang was one of 128 injured and hospitalized, according to authorities.

President Xi Jinping called on authorities on Saturday (23) to "spare no effort" in treating the injured and carrying out search and rescue operations, according to the Xinhua agency.

He also ordered an investigation into the case.
