Video records rescue of passengers after boat sinks in Paraná
A video obtained by CNN Brasil recorded the moment of rescue of passengers who fell into the water after a vessel sank between Cotinga Island and Ilha das Cobras, in Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná, this Monday (6).
The boat was crossing to Superagui Island and carrying 19 people.
In the image, it is possible to see employees from a nautical service company - which is not related to the sinking - helping the victims. Watch:

Remember the sinking
According to the Military Fire Department, the team was called at around 2:15 pm and had the support of two pilotage vessels to remove the victims from the water and take them to Marina Oceania. The circumstances of the sinking are still to be determined.
During the action, two victims were rescued in serious condition. The first, a 63-year-old woman, was treated by the Mobile Emergency Care Service for cardiorespiratory arrest and died at the scene. The other victim, suffering from hypothermia, was taken to the Litoral Regional Hospital.
Another three victims of hypothermia were treated by the team and taken to the hospital. The remaining injured remained at Porto Marina Oceania and were taken little by little to the Hospital Regional do Litoral.

Hypothermia: when the body "shuts down"
Extreme cold can cause systemic effects. If the drop in temperature is widespread, the body is at risk of hypothermia, which is a dangerous reduction in core temperature.
