Video: Power bank catches fire in elevator in Russia and woman narrowly escapes

A security camera captured the moment a portable charger caught fire inside an elevator in the city of Surgut, Russia.

Moments later, the device catches fire, filling the cabin with smoke and causing panic.

She repeatedly presses the emergency buttons and the elevator doors finally open, allowing her to escape before the fire spreads.

The KhMAO-Yugra Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that the fire started when the portable battery in the woman's bag caught fire shortly after she entered the elevator. The case happened on Thursday (21).

The authorities reported that the incident did not result in serious consequences and that firefighter intervention was not necessary.
